UNITED NATIONS MESSENGER OF PEACE.

Recently, Stevie Wonder was elected as a United Nations Messenger of Peace. He is determined to make technologies that benefit the disabled more accessible and affordable to the world. In a speech before the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Stevie launched his Declaration of Freedom for people with disabilities, saying "we must declare a state of emergency and end the information deprivation that continues to keep the visually impaired in the dark. We must develop a protocol that allows the easy import and export of copyright materials so that people with print disabilities can join the mainstream of t he literate world." His call was endorsed by the World Blind Union, which said that in developing countries less than one percent of published works were available in formats like Braille or audio.
